Market Central brings the city, vendors, and community members together to protect and grow the future of City Market.

The Charlottesville City Market is an operation of the City of Charlottesville Parks & Recreation Department.  For over 30 years, City Market has been a place for local farmers, bakers, artisans and other small producers to sell their products.  It has become a community tradition that provides an important contribution to the local economy by being a safe, affordable sales venue for small and “start-up” enterprises.

Despite exposure to weather, funding limitations, and two changes of location, the City Market has thrived and continues to grow.  But the Market’s future is by no means assured, if only because it lacks a permanent home.  The time has come to find that home, and make that future real.
