Rural Ridge is a family-run orchard dedicated to exploring the
varieties of apples that can thrive in Albemarle County, Virginia. Rural Ridge grows the dozen or so cultivars still extant that Jefferson grew at Monticello as well as hundreds of other old-fashioned varieties that offer delightful alternatives to the limited varieties currently available in grocery stores. Also on the farm: Albemarle CiderWorks, a family-run cidery and tasting room that produces cider from heritage varieties of apples and is reviving interest and appreciation of America’s favorite beverage in the 19th century.

Special Programs: Presentations on Apples and heirloom tree fruits at 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00.

Hard cider tastings (no fresh cider available on tour date) Tasting fee specially priced at $2.00 per person with Farm tour pass

Farm Sales: Seasonal fruit and hard cider
